'The Spa at the End of Time' is part of a body of work produced by custom Flux LoRa models trained on drawings and paintings done by the artist over a multi-year period of investigation into relationships between hot tubs, techno-spiritualism, the body, the night sky, and emergent media forms.  The overarching project returns repeatedly to the hot tub as an absurd formal anchor and takes different approaches to exploring the cultural, technological, metaphysical, and aesthetic dimensions of hot tubs and spas.

It is a project where images created by this AI model along with text-to-image inputs that use language inspired by techno-spiritual traditions such as theosophy, specifically the work of Hilma AF Klint, have been transformed into interactive 3D models.  Accompanied by an audio statement written in the style of a medium who receives visions from the astral plane, the images are meant to invoke a parallel between communing with spirits and working with the non-human intelligence of AI. Giving form to these visions of transference leads to the idea that these shapes and formations are pre-figurations of a divine spa that awaits humanity in a post-embodied future.

The work relates to the pavilion’s framing of AI as an agent of fluxus “intertwining the human and the non-human, the organic and the machinic”. The project treats AI as a mediumistic force capable of fabulation, deviation, and vision rather than as a tool of prediction or optimization. By positioning AI as a kind of translator of invisible forces, the project enacts the pavilion’s call to imagine AI as a site of human–nonhuman entanglement, opening porous margins between body, machine, and environment.
